AI development & product design for Circle Health
A B2B health-tech platform for behavioral-health clinics and physicians. We partnered from the earliest days, designing for AI paradigms, building intelligence layers, and supporting the journey to their first $1M in revenue.

An early-stage startup taking on behavioral-health paperwork
Circle Health builds AI assistants for addiction-treatment and behavioral-health facilities, automating clinical documentation, utilization review, quality assurance, and claims preparation across the full intake-to-discharge lifecycle.

We joined early, working alongside the founding team on both AI development and product design. The goal: streamline clinical workflows, improve usability, and introduce AI-driven features without disrupting their existing engineering process, while the company onboarded its first customers and scaled toward its first $1M in revenue.
Early-stage speed meets healthcare complexity
Designing for AI paradigms clinicians can trust
AI summaries, review runs, and confidence scores are new interaction patterns. They had to feel clear and reviewable to clinicians, not like a black box.
Inconsistent flows slowing product and engineering
Fast early-stage iteration had left key user flows inconsistent, making every new feature more expensive to design and build.
Manual, paperwork-heavy clinical operations
Prior authorizations, chart reviews, and compliance checks meant hours of document handling per patient, the exact burden the product had to remove.
HIPAA compliance as a design constraint
Every workflow touching PHI needed access control, auditability, and safe defaults designed in from the start, not patched on later.
Design and intelligence, shipped inside their process
Product design for AI in healthcare
We redesigned key user flows and established consistent UI patterns across the platform, moving Circle Health toward a scalable, professional design system. That included the patterns AI products need: review runs with scores, AI-generated summaries that cite their sources, and human-in-the-loop approval states clinicians can act on quickly.

AI intelligence layers
We implemented lightweight AI-driven features that reduced manual work for providers and operations teams: automated chart review runs, completeness and medical-necessity checks, and patient-level clinical summaries, integrated without disrupting the existing engineering process.

Document processing & form-filling workflows
Behavioral health runs on paperwork. We helped design and build workflows that assemble prior-authorization packets from chart data, fill state Medicaid forms, and send them by e-fax, turning hours of manual document handling into a reviewed, one-click submission.

HIPAA-compliant healthcare practices
Working in behavioral health means PHI everywhere. Access control, audit trails, safe data handling, and compliance-aware UX (TJC, CARF, and payer requirements surfaced in-product) were designed into every workflow from the start.
A design system that kept up with the company
- Supported the journey from early product to first $1M in revenue
- Faster customer onboarding with clearer, more consistent flows
- Sped up engineering delivery with reusable UI patterns
- Reduced manual work for providers and operations teams
- HIPAA-aligned patterns adopted across the product
“Not only have they been reliable in their delivery, but they've also gone above & beyond to deeply learn our company's domain, industry, and team dynamics to embed themselves within the company.”

“They operate with a sense of urgency, care about the quality & timeliness of their work, and work well with others. We're lucky to be able to work with them.”
